Ventura County Christian School Forced to Move by Ventura Unified School District
VCCS VS VUSD Situation
In the face of an unforeseen legal battle, Ventura County Christian School (VCCS) was entangled in a dispute with the Ventura Unified School District (VUSD). The conflict centered around concerns raised by VUSD regarding the safety of our school premises, particularly focusing on one specific building. As the imminent start of the school year drew near, VUSD's demand that we vacate the premises due to safety reasons caught us off guard.

Resolutely, we stood our ground, vehemently defending the extensive measures we had taken to ensure the safety and security of our students and staff. Complicating matters, we unearthed a clause in the lease agreement that raised doubts about our ability to uphold our faith-based values in our hiring and curriculum decisions. This intensified the gravity of the situation, reinforcing our determination to safeguard our cherished Christian principles.

Undaunted by the challenges ahead, we made the bold decision to proceed with the commencement of the school year. Our unwavering stance served as a testament to our commitment to providing a top-tier education while remaining steadfast in our spiritual convictions.

Throughout this tumultuous period, our tight-knit community exhibited remarkable unity and resilience. Parents, educators, and students came together, bound by a shared determination to preserve the unique educational environment that defines VCCS.

Unfortunately, after rigorous negations between Ventura County Christian School and Ventura Unified a settlement was made for VCCS to leave July 10th, 2023 the Washington School building where the school had been located for the last twenty-five years. We have not let this situation stop us though and have continued in faith and are glad to announce our relocation to The Miracle Center. We look forward to this next chapter that awaits our beloved school.
